Africa rode the global demand for commodities at the turn of this century to create some of the fastest economic growth figures in the world. 6 of the 10 fastest growing economies in the world were from Africa.

However, a recent IMF report indicates that demand for commodities is on a decline, sending shock waves across exporting countries in Sub-Saharan Africa.
